Colour Schemes and Type Personalities
Project Information
In this project, I created a poster featuring three thematic maps of Herring Cove Provincial Park in New Brunswick. I began by georeferencing a jpeg of the park to get precise locations of its features and amenities. After completing the base map layout, I exported it from ArcGIS Pro as an AIX file, including a main and inset map set at appropriate scales. In Adobe Illustrator, I developed three unique maps using the same spatial data, applying a different colour scheme to each (achromatic plus 1 hue, complementary, and full CMYK) and pairing them with distinct type personalities. I created custom spot colours for the first two schemes and used appropriate tints and line weights to ensure clarity and consistency across map features. After refining the symbology, labels, and layout in Illustrator, I moved into Adobe InDesign to assemble the final 36.5" x 16" poster. Each map was accompanied by a title and a short description explaining the design rationale. The final version was then exported as a print-ready PDF with trim marks.
